BAJ membership is open to those who earn most of their income from being part of an editorial workflow encompassing reporters, hyperlocal editors, photographers, writers, sub-editors, page layout artists, and news broadcasters, to name just a sample of the roles we support. Membership is subject to a £15 joining fee payable by invoice once your application has been approved. Membership of the BAJ does not guarantee UK Press Card acceptance and is subject to separate qualification criteria. You do not need to be a member of the BAJ to apply for a UK Press accreditation; more details can be found here.
Membership has two categories;
(National – £16.00 monthly) – Members working for national media.
(Freelance – £11.50 monthly) – Members working for local media, including freelance contributors and internet-based media.
Monthly membership fees are collected via a rolling Direct Debit mandate with your bank*, or you can request to pay your membership fee yearly in advance by invoice.

New membership requests are subject to a joining fee of £15.00, paid via an invoice sent to your email after your application has been processed and approved.
Once your application has been approved and your joining fee has been paid, your BAJ membership details will be sent electronically. Please allow five working days for your application to be processed.
